Night to Tribute Abbas Kiarostami in Tehran International Short Film Festival
Mansour Jahani – Tribute of late Abbas Kiarostami, the Iranian famous director in 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival will be held as “Night of Abbas Kiarostami”.
Tribute of late Abbas Kiarostami, the Iranian famous director and winner of Golden Palm from 50th edition of Cannes Film Festival in 1997 will be held as “Night of Abbas Kiarostami” in Charsou Cineplex in Tehran, also, it is supposed to screen 17 one-minute films of his students about him.
These films were chosen under supervision of “Negar Eskandarfar” the head of “Karnameh” Artistic-Cultural Institute where Abbas Kiarostami taught Basics of Directing and New Cinematic Look to his young students. “Farid Farkhondehkish”, the director of 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival also helped to choose the films.
In this program, Dr. “Alireza Karimi Saremi” Manager of 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival and “Negar Eskandarfar” the head of “Karnameh” Artistic-Cultural Institute will have speech about the situation of late Abbas Kiarostami. Then after, in continuing the programs of “Night of Abbas Kiarostami”, 17 one-minute films of his students about him will be screened. They are: Dorri Rezayi, Yekta Darvish, Farzad Khoshdast, Farid Bayan, Maziar Mokhtari, Maryam Esmkhani, Esmaeel Mirzayi, Khatereh Khodayi, Adel Mohebbian, Negin Aminzadeh, Homayra Yasseri, Hamid Amini, Roshanak Abbasi, Raha Razavi, Mehdi Zarei, Mohsen Khodabakhshi, and Arezoo Arzanesh.
In another part of the program, “76 min. and 15 sec. with Kiarostami” directed by “Seyfollah Samadian” will be screened. The film was premiered in 73rd Venice Film Festival, Italy.
With screening 100 films from 41 countries, and several sections like international competition, Competition of Iranian Cinema including Featured Films, Documentary, Experimental, and Animation, Asian Film Competition, several other competitive sections, Night of Abbas Kiarostami, the Iranian late
famous director, Special Seminar “Cinema and One Attitude” by several Iranian famous Directors, Tributes of several Iranian Directors, Several meetings and workshops, “Book and Cinema” section, International Conference of Short Film (Past, Present and Future), Review of German short films, German Oskar Winner Short Films, “Video Art” Section, Islamic and Universal Peace Film will be held from November 8-14th in Charsou Cineplex in Tehran.
