25th Galawej International Festival to be Held in Sulaymaniyah
Mansour Jahani – Teleghraph: The 25th edition of Galawej International Festival is held in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and will be presided by Mala Bakhtiar, set to feature scholars, poets, translators, and critics from all around the world.
Bearing the motto “Intuition and freedom are ornaments of Galawej”, the Bronze Jubilee category of Galawej International Literary Festival is an effort by Galawej Intellectual Institute, directed by Dr. Ibtisam Ismail Qadir, featuring 250 eminent scholars, poets, translators, critics, and artists from different countries, and consists of two sections namely competition and out of competition, several specialized and literary panels and summits of which will be held in Radama Hotel, a visual arts grand fair, and a book fair, in Sulaymaniyah. The event will be presided by Mala Bakhtiar, a prominent writer from Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Galawej Festival has been held for the last 25 years annually, featuring scholars, poets, translators, and critics from all around the globe, and consists of cultural activities and specialized summits in the Middle East, regardless of the wars and conflicts in the western region of Asia; the festival plans to expand its activities in the specialized fields of art such as music, drama, etc. in a professional and competitive manner.
The prestigious cultural and artistic event’s opening ceremony is set to feature a number of renowned Kurdish bands and singers, contributed by prominent musicians and orchestra conductors of Kurdistan Region of Iraq that are slated to perform in Sulaymaniyah’s Arts Hall. In addition, three influential and veteran artists in the music field as well as two Kurdish authors will be paid a special tribute by being granted the Bronze Jubilee award. The closing day will also feature the introduction of winners in the competition categories of fiction, poetry, and research, receiving statues and appreciation plaques.
In the days holding the Bronze Jubilee of Galawej International Literary Festival, the play Mali Khushewisti (A Home to Love) directed by Pishro Hussein, a member of the theater guild in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, will be performed.
Members of the organizing committee of Galawej International Festival’s Bronze Jubilee are the following: Samy Hadi, Dr. Ibtisam Ismail Qadir, Dr. Nozad Ahmed Aswad, Tal’at Tahir, and Siamand Hadi. Plus, Suran Naqshbandi acts as the artistic director as well as the communications director to this prestigious literary and artistic event.
