American University in the Emirates (AUE) Announces New Portfolio of Doctoral, Master’s and Bachelor’s Programs
On the 20th anniversary of its founding, the American University in the Emirates (AUE) announced an expansion of its academic portfolio across the doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s levels, together with the establishment of a new college, at a press conference held at the University’s campus in Dubai International Academic City.
The announcement was made in the presence of the University President, members of the Board of Trustees, Provost, Vice Presidents, and representatives of the regional press and media. It reflects the University’s continued efforts to expand and develop its academic offerings, introducing programs designed to respond to the evolving needs of higher education, the labor market and the future of diverse professional sectors.
The new programs with student intake for Academic Year 2026-2027 build on AUE’s journey of academic excellence and scholarly achievement over the years, reinforcing its commitment to an educational model that combines academic knowledge, practical application and research, while supporting students in making informed choices about fields of study aligned with the demands of the future.
Prof. Muthanna G. Abdul Razzaq, President of AUE, emphasized the importance of continuously developing academic programs to provide students with educational pathways that reflect the changing demands of the future. He noted that choosing a field of study is a fundamental step in shaping a student’s academic and professional journey, and that higher education should go beyond the acquisition of knowledge to developing the capabilities and skills that enable graduates to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the sectors in which they will work.
The expansion forms part of the University’s commitment to “A New Academic Future,” with a focus on preparing graduates equipped with specialized knowledge, critical-thinking abilities, research skills and practical competencies. This approach is particularly reflected in AUE’s graduate offerings, which place emphasis on knowledge creation, research and practical application.
The newly announced academic offerings include five doctoral programs: a PhD in Digital Media and Political Communication; a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA); a PhD in Law; a Doctorate in Leadership and Public Administration (DLPA); and a PhD in Security and Global Studies. Together, these programs expand opportunities for advanced study and research in fields shaped by rapid developments in media, technology, business, law and security.
At the master’s level, AUE announced five programs: a Master of Architecture; a Master in Education; a Master in Strategic Communication and Public Relations; a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science; and a Master of Science in Business Intelligence. The programs span established academic disciplines as well as emerging fields driven by technology, data and strategic communication.
At the undergraduate level, the new offerings include four Bachelor of Science programs: Nursing; Physiotherapy; Mechatronics Engineering; and Cybersecurity Engineering. The programs further broaden AUE’s academic portfolio across healthcare, engineering and technology, reflecting the growing demand for specialized skills in these fields.
All new programs have received provisional accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) in the UAE and approval from the institutional accreditor SACSCOC in the United States, ensuring they meet the highest international standards.
The University also has received approval from the CAA to start an innovative new college, the College of Desert and Mountain Studies. This college will offer a unique portfolio of undergraduate and graduate programs focusing on the special challenges and opportunities posed by arid or mountainous environments to prepare leaders for careers in government and industry in this region.
Finally, aside from its degree programs, AUE offers a rigorous executive training program with more than 50 programs approved by KHDA to help professionals in the region update their skills for career advancement.
The press conference concluded with a question-and-answer session, followed by an introduction to the University’s academic facilities, colleges and newly announced programs, with members of the media in attendance.
